Our Five Favorite Places In NJ

There is so much to love about our home state, which is why we chose to highlight a few incredible places to visit. These are great spots for a day out, a family road trip, or just an afternoon of fun after finding your next new Kia.

The top spot that you need to visit if you have the time is Atlantic City and the Boardwalk. Atlantic City is one of the most popular resort towns on the northeastern coast and is famous for the Boardwalk. It is a four-mile-long stretch that was built in the late 19th century and has remained the central attraction for the city. It includes a carnival-style amusement park suitable for all ages, bike rentals, an electric tram, among many other attractions.

The second attraction you may want to consider visiting lies in Cape May. You will find spectacular 18th and 19th-century Victorian-style holiday homes, such as Emlen Physick Estate. Many of these buildings, including the Emlen Physick Estate, are museums. This one, in particular, is an 18-room mansion and is truly spectacular to walk through.

An aerial view of Liberty State Park and Ellis Island are shown with the NY City skyline in the distance.

Liberty State Park is another attraction worth visiting in New Jersey. The park overlooks Ellis Island, Liberty Island, and the Upper New York Bay. There are plenty of monuments to see in the park as well, such as the Holocaust memorial monument entitled Liberation. The park includes recreational facilities, picnic areas, and allows kayaking and cycling as well.

As a fourth option for great places to visit in the state, you could make your way to the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. It is between New Jersey and Pennsylvania and houses a large portion of the Delaware River. This recreation area has many access points and has two visitor centers to check in at. The Kittatinny Point Visitor Center is one, which also acts as an access point to the Appalachian Trail.

If the other options don’t tickle your fancy or if you are hoping to construct an entire road trip, feel free to visit Princeton and the Battlefield State Park. The small town is internationally recognized because of its historic university. Princeton’s research institute, the Institute for Advanced Study, is where Albert Einstein conducted his final work in the field. If you would like a guided tour through the campus, there is a student-run tour program that lasts about an hour, which will show you the highlights of the campus. The Princeton Battlefield State Park is worth exploring while you are in the area, as it is a 200-acre park where the Battle of Princeton of 1777 took place. This particular battle was one in which Washington defeated the British; a small victory during the American Revolutionary War.
