Kia Recall Department

If a vehicle or one of its parts is found to have increased safety risk, the vehicle and its potentially defective component can be included in a safety recall.

Raceway Kia Vehicle Safety Recall Information

In the United States, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is the regulatory authority empowered by the Department of Transportation to execute its stated mission to “save lives, prevent injuries, and reduce vehicle-related crashes.” The NHTSA works alongside every major auto manufacturer including Kia to ensure that every vehicle and all of its components promote the highest level of safety for motorists. If a vehicle or one of its parts is found to have increased safety risk, the vehicle and its potentially defective component can be included in a safety recall. When a safety recall is published, the manufacturer is responsible for notifying owners via mail. Safety recall information is also found here at the Kia Motor Recall Campaign Information Center as well as via the NHTSA website. Also of importance is knowing that if your vehicle is included in a Safety Recall, our recall service center will fix the defective components free of charge to you.

Current Kia Safety Recalls

Kia has a few active safety recalls worth noting. Kia has recalled approximately 379,000 vehicles between the model years 2012 – 2016 with the 1.6-liter engine that has been found to have a higher risk for oil leaks leading to a fire. This recall includes the Kia Soul manufactured between 2012 – 2016, as well as the 2011 & 2012 Kia Sportage. If you own a Kia Soul or Sportage, it is an excellent idea to check and see if it is included in the safety recall. Safety Recall service is convenient and provided for free of charge at Raceway Kia of Freehold. Raceway Kia of Freehold is conveniently located near Jackson, Old Bridge Township & Middletown, NJ.

Three Ways to know if your Kia has a Safety Recall

  1. Vehicle Identification Number – Every vehicle has a unique 17-character vehicle identification number (VIN). The VIN can be found in several places including on the driver’s side dashboard where it meets the windshield, on the registration, insurance paperwork, and in the purchase transaction paperwork. With the VIN, you can search the Kia Motor Recall Campaign Information Center database or the NHTSA database.
  2. Letter in the mail – Kia sends letters of safety recall notification to all Kia drivers with vehicles involved in a safety recall. If a safety recall is issued and you did not receive a letter, you can verify if your vehicle is included by searching the NHTSA or Kia databases using your VIN.
  3. Call Raceway Kia of Freehold – If you are uncertain, give us a call at (855) 273-2213, and we’ll help you with knowing whether your Kia is involved in a safety recall. Every Kia recall service at Raceway Kia includes genuine replacement parts and an expert certified technician.
